UEF First International Workshop on Forest pedagogy in Bulgaria

The UEF Presidency has the pleasure to invite you to the International workshop on Forest pedagogy (Bulgaria) which is organized by the Union of European Foresters (UEF) in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Executive Forest Agency in Bulgaria and the Union of Bulgarian Foresters.

The modern society of the present day is particularly sensitive to environmental protection, conservation of forests and biodiversity. Numerous are the examples when it reacts very negatively to the forest management activities and with particularly to the implemented fellings. The negative attitude of the society clearly outlines the necessity for "opening" of foresters to general public and the need of to reveal the functions and tasks of foresters for management and conservation of forest ecosystems.

There are a lot of European countries where exists well-established tradition of active involvement of forestry workers in the presentation of sylvicultural profession to the general public, by offering variety of trainings targeting at different target groups – forest pedagogics.

However, there are other countries where there is still a lot to be done and the Forest Pedagogy activities are new topic and training is needed.

With the aim to support the development and work in the field of Forest Pedagogics the Union of European Foresters (UEF) in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Executive Forest Agency in Bulgaria and the Union of Bulgarian Foresters are organizing an English spoken training workshop on Forest pedagogics in Bulgaria and would like to invite foresters from all over Europe to the event.

The training will be led by Thomas Baschny, Wolfgang Schweighofer representatives of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management and Roman Bunyai representative of the local hunting association (Burgenland) Werkstatt Natur (Workshop Nature), all of them leading experts in the field of forest pedagogics.

The participants in the workshop will receive a certificate for attendance of the Forest pedagogy workshop.

The training will take place during the period 19 -23 October 2015 at University Experimental and training center “Yundola”, Bulgaria, where accommodation for 15 participants will be offered.

18 October 2015        Arrival by plane (Sofia Airport) and transportation to “Yundola” Experimental Center.
19-23 October 2015 Practical training on Forest pedagogics;
24 October 2015        Departure from Yundola and transportation to Sofia airport

The estimated costs for accommodation, meals and local transportation will be around 300 euros.

In case this period is not suitable for you but you are interested in forest pedagogy training, we are planning to organize a similar one next year again.
