What:

The new UEF students summer camp will be organised in cooperation with the Polish State Forests National Forest Holding, the Union of European Foresters and the Polish Association of Foresters and Wood Technologists (SITLiD). The camp will be located in the middle west of Poland in the Antonin Forest District (The Lasy Rychtalskie Promotional Forest). We invite students to take part in practical forestry activities in the biggest EU forest national holding, to exchange the knowledge and experiences, to get to know each other and strengthen international cooperation.

 

The Polish hosts will provide participants with the accommodation in an inspiring place in the Antonin Forest District. The historical buildings have been recently renovated and adapted to a dormitories with enough space to host 15 students. The rooms include bathrooms and kitchens.

Alongside work in the forestry districts, participants will get experience in forestry practice, as well will take part in field trips to get to know the culture and history of the region. The area is located in the park, close to the wooden-hunting palace which was built in 1826, as well as near by the Antonin Forest District office. The organizers will arrange bicycles, as well as the bonfire place for the meetings in the evenings. The alimentation will include 3 meals per day.

 

The hosts will select 15 students to participate in the camp. We would like to select as many students from different countries as possible. Thus the number of the participants coming from one country will be limited. In order to register participants shall fill in the registration form, which is available here.

UEF will support financially some students in terms of accommodation costs. The programme starts at 24th of August and will finish on 6th September near Poznan.

The intention of the International Forestry Excursion Week is to get to know together with young forestry people from many different countries the forest and the forestry conditions in Rheinland-Pfalz and Germany, to exchange information and experiences and to get to know the region and people with the same interests.
- As program are planed forestry excursions and events to the following themes:
Getting to know the woods of Rheinland-Pfalz and Germany, general forestry in Rheinland-Pfalz and Germany, methods and aims of woodland management illustrated by selected examples, influence of climate change in the forests, natural forestry methods and new cultivation models, geology, natural conservation in Germany, environmental education and public relations work,.
- The group:
Forestry students from different countries will take part in the International Forestry Excursion Week.
- Board and lodging:
The accommodation is free and will be in the “Wald-Jugendheim Kolbenstein”, a former forester house in the middle of the forest which is used today as a forest youth hostel. The house is self-catering, that means the group will cater for themselves. A kitchen equipped with cooking facilities, crockery and cutlery is available. All needed equipment will be offered by the forestry office.
- Arrival:
You can reach us by train via Boppard station, by plane (Frankfurt airport, Cologne/Bonn or Frankfurt-Hahn) or by car.

Information for the workcamp excursion week 2016

The International Forestry Workcamp 2015 in Poland!

17-31. July 2015

In this year Union of European Foresters has decided to organize annual International Forestry Workcamp in Poland.

In cooperation with Polish State Forests National Holding and Polish Association of Foresters and Wood Technologists (SITLiD), we have an offer for students of forestry faculties, to meet in Antonin Forest District (Rychtalskie Forest Promotional Complex), middle-west Poland.

Participants can take part in practical forestry work in the biggest EU forest national holding, exchange information and experiences, get to know each other and strengthen international cooperation.
You can help us in the Summer inventory of red deer’s, night counting of butterflies, simple work in forest protection, etc.

Alongside work in the forestry districts, where participants can receive experience in forestry practice, in the programme there are also field trips with various themes. These trips will help participants to get to know the people and the culture of the region.

In two neighbouring, renovated old buildings with nice rooms including bathrooms and kitchens we have accommodation for 15 people. Area is located in the park, close to the wood-hunting palace that comes from XIXth century. There is also an office of Antonin Forest District nearby.

We provide you with 3 meals. Service is nice and professional.

Close to this place you can find lake area, thousands hectares of forests, Natura 2000 bird area, nature reserves, etc.
Participants have at one’s disposal bicycles, bonfire place.

For the duration of the work camp each participant will receive a total 190 Euro pocket money.

UEF supports at least two participants by a travel expenses subsidy, which can be requested through the national UEF member organizations.

Students must speak English.

Transportation will be given from Wroclaw International Airport or from Ostrów Wielkopolski railway station.
