Member of the UEF Presidency participated in the Second meeting of the INC
The UEF Secretary Thomas Baschny took part in the Second Session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee for a Legally Binding Agreement on Forests in Europe (INC-Forests2) that was held in Bonn, Germany on 3-7 September 2012. The Committee undertook a first reading of the draft negotiating text for a legally binding agreement in Europe, providing general comments as well as concrete proposals. 40 States, 1 Observer state (Japan) and 21 Observer NGO´s attended the meeting in Deutsche Welle house in Bonn. Three observers NGO’s (Swiss Forest Owners Association, Friends of Earth Switzerland and German Forest Association) participated the meeting for the first time.
The outcome is Draft Negotiating Text for a Legally Binding Agreement on Forests in Europe (DNT).
The INC 3 will take place in Antalya (Turkey) from 28th of January to 1st of February 2013. And the final INC 4 will take place in Poland - (May/June 2013).
